I'm pretty sure it's okay to ask since it is pre-Fallen material and Amy and Ben both gave us permission to download pre-Fallen material.

Is the Even In Death on the Demo CD section the Rough Mix? The song doesn't sound rougher or more demo-ish to me.

Bootleggers did that on the Not For Your Ears or later bootlegs. And I don't think so. I think it's the Origin version. Though DarkFlare89 would probably be more apt to tell you.

I dunno - it's really hard to say, you know? I don't have a personal NFYE 2003 Bootleg to even listen to, to tell the difference. I, personally, could never tell the difference. It came up from *somewhere* and the only thing we have telling us where (from the defunct MLB forums) points to the NFYE bootleg. It *probably* is just the Origin Version. The differences might be so subtle (like Imaginary Fallen compared to the Imaginary Mystary) that it isn't even worth mentioning, but it's there so we have to say something about it heh. Whether or not the bootleggers intentionally did it or it was accidental I could never determine either. Obviously things like the Lies (It Was All A Lie) on the In Your Shadows bootleg was intentional. Things like the different Before the Dawn versions (Faded Intro, No Beep) etc are also bootleg tampered. But for Even In Death (Rough Mix) I can't tell if it is "rough" (which only meant lesser quality compared to Origin, 2 seconds of silence longer, guitars "louder" whatever that meant) just because bootleggers don't know how to download/rip properly or because they literally themselves tampered with it. Evidence from future releases in terms of bootleg songs (like Missing from the Fallen leak on the Re-Release of Origin) shows that bootleggers are willing to try and change their songs in order to get some edge in the market. Was that the case from the Rough Mix of EID? That I can't say for sure. Now, if the question is whether or not the EID on any/all lists of the NFYE songs (like the ones on the internet or like on EvReference) is the Rough Mix or not, that too I can't answer. Probably not since most people think it is just the Origin Version, so they just put that on there. The version I have literally says "Rough Mix" in the tags, so I just go with that LOL. So, in summation, it's good to have if you are an obsessive Ev .mp3 collector, for the giggles

Ohhh okay. Hmm. That makes sense. I'll try to find an NFYE bootleg and see if I can afford it just to see if it has EID Rough Mix on it or not. lol. Though, just thinking as I'm replying, maybe because of the fact that Evanescence were performing EID acoustically and in their stage sets, maybe people thought it was a demo to Fallen and thought the Origin version was the "rough" version of the song? Bootleggers even put "Forgive Me" on the list of some demo "CDs"... lol.

I see. Regarding the 2001-2002 Demos, do you think the download page is missing anything? These are the one's I have: Anything for You Before The Dawn Bleed Breathe No More Bring Me To Life V1 Bing Me To Life V2 Everybody's Fool V1 Everybody's Fool V2 Farther Away Forever You Going Under Haunted V1 Haunted V2 Haunted V3 Haunted V4 Haunted V5 Hello Imaginary V1 Imaginary V2 Missing My Last Breath Surrender Taking Over Me V1 Taking over Me V2 Tourniquet V1 Tourniquet V2 Tourniquet V3 Whisper (Post Origin Demo/2002) I'm not sure why Forgive Me, Lies (Remixed), or Even In Death are in that list. i was wondering the same thing. like i'd understand if Forgive me or Even in death was remixed or another version. but they are not.

Well, DarkFlare89 has confirmed that the Lies (Post-Origin Demo) does belong in the 2001-2002 demos. EID may be in there because of the rumored rough mix or because Ev played it as an acoustic song and they played it live in 2002/2003 and I guess people thought it was a demo that would potentially reach Fallen. Idk. Some people are just...

I'm not sure if anyone else has seen this but Ben tweeted a photo of an old cassette tape from when Ev was still Childish Intentions and it has Understanding, Solitude, and an unnamed track. Any clue what it could be?

Any clue what it could be? It's probably the "I know a secret" song/Unknown Song/1999 Song/Me and You/Track 3. <<< For the "Track 3" response. lol.

This cassette is from before the "Evanescence" band name had been chosen, and I'm assuming it's before most of the songs from Evanescence EP had even been written. The unknown song didn't debut until 1999.

Solitude > Understanding > Give Unto Me > My Immortal? Just saying The question is whether or not Solitude/Understanding/Track 3 are different from their CD EP versions. I doubt the song is 'Me in You,' since that wasn't ever really finished, you know?

Give Unto Me was my guess, but maybe there is some unknown demo out there that wasn't really known or documented, because they DID only name it Track 3, after all Maybe it's a demo that just never went anywhere after that? It's interesting to think about. We think we know so much about the band's pre-Fallen history, but there's probably dozens of demos that we don't know anything about.
