Like everyone already said, the messy mixing is a bit of a problem, as for everything else I likeed it, especially the verses. Will is on fire on those drums. It's not instant love from me like WoY, this one is more of a grower, harder to isten to with all the belting and long notes of the chorus. I like how agressive and direct the lyrics are. It's going to be a tricky song to sing live though. Again I find that she is abusing her range, and being this the second single it's not a song they'll be able to avoid live. I wonder what the video is going to be like.

The song's not bad, but I have my usual recent Ev problems with it. I'm wondering if the issue with the sound is maybe to do with the mastering rather than the mixing, but yeah, there's something a bit off again. The polish is gone, which I'm wondering if that's actually what the band were going for - a rawer, rock sound. I like the song, particularly the Korn-esque breakdown, but I'm getting bored of hearing Amy at the very top of her range all the time. Bring back the diversity of TOD!
-EDIT- Listened to it on Spotify, and the mixing sounds a lot clearer on there. I've listened to the song a lot this morning, and it's definitely growing on me in a way that Wasted On You just didn't. There's a bit of a Cloud Nine vibe to some of it, and it's great to hear backing vocals being used more prominently - that was something I REALLY missed on Synthesis. Not sure why, but the backing vocals have always been one of my favourite parts of Ev's music. I'm still hoping for more songs that utilise Amy's lower range - I've got a feeling this is going to become a song she'll end up struggling with live.

Good that you brought that up, cause even though the instrumentation of the song is meant to make us feel energized, when the song ends I feel exhausted instead of energized, it's probably due to all the high, long notes. Both WoY and this one have abrupt endings, but WoY kinda leaves me wanting more while with this one I'm like ok it's over.

The song was enough till the guitar solo, after that it felt like Amy was exaggerating with the endless high pitch vocals. Especially the part "I want it all or I want nothing at all Maybe I can…" seems so redundant and nonsense to me - maybe because of the bad mixing. Hope for a radio edit. I also get irritated by the abrupt ending.

Finally my headache started to fade and I was able to listen to it. I think the song itself is fabulous... but whoever is producing/mixing needs to... not do that anymore. Since Amy is quieter in the mix than usual, it almost sounds like she's screaming to compete with the band. And I don't think her voice is blending with the music very well - is she using a different mic or are they not adding any reverb at all?

It does feel very different to Ev3 and Synthesis, in the sense that they were very epic, almost movie score-like songs. This song feels like an explosion of sound, almost similar to Halestorm

but whoever is producing/mixing needs to... not do that anymore. What a great way to put it lol Idk what it is about the mixing, but it doesn't sound as crisp as their first 3 albums But my overall thoughts: -The song is very Ev3-both in sound and lyrical theme and style
-Kind of reminds me of Sick, Made of Stone, and The Change???
-The lyrics are standard Evanescence-I'd say 2011-present Ev has a more straight forward lyrical style, while Fallen and TOD were more poetic
-The drums and Amy's vocals sound great
-I love the heavy bangers with Amy belting
-There's a bit of a 90s grunge/alt rock vibe here
-Definitely better than Wasted on You. I can't wait to hear the next one (and the next batch with a different vibe!!)

Really enjoying this song the more I listen. LOVE the breakdown, and at first I wasn't keen on Amy's vocals in the final bridge/chorus, but I'm really starting to like how much 'freer' they sound, if that makes sense.
-EDIT- I'm actually wondering if the problem with the mixing is that it's less compressed, so it makes it sound rawer, but means the difference between the loud and quiet hasn't been evened out enough. I notice when Amy's voice is quieter, it just gets lost in a way it didn't on Fallen or The Open Door in particular.

I'm REALLY likong this new stuff.
I do have a complaint about the instrumental though...drums are dope and they are very prominent but I feel the guitar work isn't really that great nor does it stand out (was that on purpose).
I actually don't percieve Amy's vocals to be thaaat high though I do think she'll struggle live with this. I did find Cloud Nine and Never Go Back's vocals to be quite insufferable and took me a looong time to get used to it before I could truly enjoy them.
What impresses me the most is the lyrical content, I thought we'd hear more of her favorite words/phrases but this is good.

This could easily fit into TOD if there was a choir during that instrumental

The Spotify version has always sounded more crisp. I really hope this picks up after the video release and gives them a deserving hit. It's brilliant. 18k likes Vs 81k views - that says something. Wish YouTube had a ratio for this to get them more attention, after all it's not the views but the likes that matter. That would help them get more attention.

Nevermind. Ok, I listened to a YouTube version and I was thinking the vocals were louder than the instrumentals,...but I guess I do agree her vocals would get lost sometimes. I would also prefer more in her lower register. Personally, it's just more my vibe these days, or a nice blend of both. *thinking "now I will tell you what I've done for you..." Forget what else. Oh! I initially was thinking where is that guitar solo?? But I heard a bit, but was Amy singing on top of it (??) I'm confused. Anyway, not bad, but I honestly prefer the instrumentals on this one. Whoever mentioned the Kornish vibe, well, I'd say like a nu metal vibe and maybe even a touch of industrial (was that the 90s comment?) I dug that!

I will say that if you're listening on Spotify you can turn on the 'normalize volume' setting and even just 'normal' helps the mix some, a little less harsh.
