Here is the video I watched.
Thank you!
So I absolutely just sat through 40 minutes of listening to this haha.
Imaginary - I talked about this already, so I'm going to skip.
Whisper - Hmm, like I thought - no intro (because copyright?) or is this simply the first rendition of what was later known as Whisper 2002? (Even though it was made in 2001 ha!). I can never tell if the vocals sound just slightly different because of YouTube audio or pitch-altering on the uploaders part due to copyright-evading-measures or my faulty memory. I think the rest is the same apart from the missing intro.
Haunted - As expected - it was either going to be v1 or v4. I'm really glad they went with v4 with the screams at the end AND the original lyrics (the unique feature of v4, which blends the end of v2 and the lyrics of v1 - my favorite!)
Everybody's Fool - Ah the latest demo (Oct 2002) - let us see if this is the one from Making of Fallen (which if memory serves, has no demo computerized vocals and some different, more Fallen-esque lyrical elements). Hmm, this seems to be v1 (no 'I know the truth now' part). Aww, I like v2 better.
Taking Over Me - Aww is this v1 of this song too? v2 superior LOL.
Missing - Hmm, my least-favorite of the 2001-2002 demos and this doesn't sound like the much-cooler Making of Fallen rendition. "Isn't something missing?" (Farther Away deserved this spot more
).
Going Under - AAYYY my theory was right! So this demo IS from Making of Fallen I talked about before! The ending cleanly ends, unlike GU v1 which fades at the end with the music still going/Amy still singing. Nice!
Tourniquet - Okay let's see what they do with this - surely no quotes from R+J? (They're still there! Interesting) Hmm are the vocals/drums different here? Tourniquet has always seemed to me to be so muffled sounding - this sounds certainly cleaner and clearer than any other Tourniquet demo I've heard haha. Hmm, the ending is different? Yeah! That's what it is - the ending is much longer and elaborate (so like a demo version of the ending on Fallen, not including the orchestral part obviously). It seems like a cooler version of v3 with a more elaborate ending? Nice!
My Last Breath - Hmm, no differences? Maybe? Aww, no MLB v2. That being said - the quality of these demos is something else. I guess they were remastered too? Because typically the MLB demo sounds a bit subdued but this demo, even on YouTube, sounds awesome.
Bring Me To Life - Okay BMTL, please don't be the same one on the CD. It sounds . . . like v1, which I guess is okay LOL.
Vocal Notes - Hooray Breathe No More - oh wow how amazing that sounds! If only we could have gotten a complete demo of it! Ooh the strange alternative version of Going Under is cool "tried to be strong without you/ I'm going under!" That's cool. They say GU was the last song completed for Fallen, so I guess it makes sense she would have recordings of the process of it coming together.
Overall pretty cool - out of the anniversary package we got maybe five new demos (Imaginary v3, GU v2, Tourniquet v4 definitely - MAYBE BMTL v3 (on CD unless it is a modified v2 due to copyright) and MAYBE Whisper v2 (unless it is a modified Whisper 2002 due to copyright). Six if you add the 'Strings Version' of My Immortal that is, in essence, an alternate take of the Band Version. Complete aside, but I just realized the GU acoustic on the anniversary package is the exclusive GU acoustic that used to be only found on the Spanish edition of the GU single. So that's really cool that that particular acoustic has a wider release instead of the FM99 one that was on every other single.
