Maybe she didn't want to offend Japan by not singing it
If she makes a song about Hurricane Sandy, I swear, lol
Back on that video with Amy playing Erase This, which venue was that?

Fo' rill rill, not for play play.
Underrated.
Hmm... I'm pretty sure this song doesn't have any electronic effects/synth instruments... I'm trying to think of any other ones that don't. I'm fairly certain that WYW, MOS, TC, MHIB, TOS, LIP, SICK, O, NGB, SH (naturally), D, and SD all have them... I'm not sure about EotD, NWTB, and SYW. I must away! To the listening station!!! *fwoosh*
Edit: I think it's just ET, EotD, and SYW with no electronics, heh... I don't know why I felt the need to find this out.

I think you'll find EotD does have some electronics, mostly audible in the verses. It's sort of pulsating throughout the channels. If that's not electronics, then I've no clue what it is. Either way, I love it.

There are a few noises going on in the background of EotD, but I think the pulsing is strings or guitar. When you say pulsating I immediately think of the guitars throughout (they're done in a style similar to The Change and Like You) and the strings in the second verse (I don't think they're in the first verse...). Because the sound is so cluttered it's kind of hard to identify things, but I'm pretty sure the pulsating is the strings... Though there are also random guitar notes scattered about the left side that are hard to identify. Of course it might just not be audible in my headphones (some things aren't...) *shrug* I'm going to listen to it again now, hehehe...

I hear an electronic thing in Erase This. It's during the verses. It's like this, How can I explain it? Kind of like a forward then quick reverse sound. Or a scratch type noise? Idk how to describe it right now. My mind sucks today and I have a long, tiring, stressful day. Lol.
EOTD has electronics in it. The pulsating sound, as mentioned before, is an electronic effect mimicing the drums and guitar, I think. Then There's the trill sound thing that sound's like a bird whistle right before the chorus. Then in the second verse there's that sound that sounds like Amy going "Oh Oh Oh Oh Oh Oh", that's actually a sound. And the pulsating is in the second verse too. Then the brush trill whistle thing again. Then There's like some glitch in Amy's voice on "apart" during the bridge.
Where are the electronics in NWTB? Chorus and middle 8?
SYW has electronics in the pre-chrouses. And in the "tell me what you want from me" part.
This is just what I hear at least...

Hmmm... I can't hear it in Erase This, and I couldn't possible listen any closer to that song, hehe. The percussion is very cluttered throughout, so it's hard to separate any sound from the cymbals.... That's all I can hear. He does some very interesting things with the cymbals in that song though, I've been trying to create an instrumental for it that's as accurate as possible and there's all kinds of strange noises created just by the drumming. Even a forward/reverse sort of sound where he does this really fast little build up (like... Four sixteenth notes, heh... Maybe faster) before releasing the pedal (I think he's using the two cymbals that have a pedal... I don't know what they're called, but it's the ones that you can close together with the pedal to create different sounds) that creates this build/bursting sound but quickly steps on the pedal again which cuts the cymbal crash short... Making it sound like something is going out then getting sucked back in, sort of like what you described.
The pulsating in EotD, if I'm hearing the same thing you are, I'm about 90% certain is muted electric guitar (perhaps with an echo). I would describe it as sort of a rippling, pulsing sound through the verses that's very quiet, but sounds very much like a guitar. The 'oh oh oh oh oh' in the second verse is most definitely low strings. Again, assuming we're talking about the same thing (I can't hear anything else), there are some cellos (perhaps violas) playing what could be interpreted as vocal 'ohs'. The bird whistle thing I'm thinking is probably strings again. It sounds like violins playing two different notes that are very close together, which creates this sort of trill or vibrating sound, there may even be a bit of tremolo in there (which shows up a couple of times on the album).
In NWTB there isn't much, but I'm pretty sure that very early in the song there's a sampled beat for only a couple of seconds. During "so you might earn forgiveness"... It might have been recorded with live drums, but if it was they definitely edited it digitally later to sound more... Lo-fi. I would guess it was fully sampled though, 'cause it's silly to record something only to make it sound like it wasn't recorded.
Are you talking about the crashing sort of sound in SYW? 'cause that might just be traditional percussion, not necessarily synthesized. I can't tell what it is though...

'cause that might just be traditional percussion, not necessarily synthesized. I can't tell what it is though... K. I made an instrumental clips of the areas where I hear the things I'm describing: Erase This The sound I'm talking about is right as you start it, at 3 seconds, 5 seconds and 7 seconds. EOTD The pulse if right as you start it (I feel the pulse is behind the two guitars, and not the guitars) and at 3 seconds and 4 seconds. NWTB The sounds I'm speaking of sound like June bug/beetle wings, or like when you shuffle a deck of cards (to me) and are at 1 second and at 4 seconds. SYW Electronic 1 The sound is at 2 seconds, 4 seconds, 6 seconds, 7 seconds, 9 seconds, and 11 seconds. It sounds almost like the synth used in the beginning of Whisper. SYW Electronic 2 Sound starts right after "anymore"; at 1 second and continues to 8 seconds, where it then sounds like it moves a half step up.

Hmmm... I'm a little confused now... But glad you're enthusiastic, hehehehe.
In the instrumental clip of Erase This you posted, the sound is crystal clear, but when I put my cd in and listen the sound is completely inaudible or nonexistent. Is this a clip that someone used a program to strip the vocals from? Because at that exact moment during the complete version of the song, I hear two distinct cymbal crashes instead of that sound, yet in this instrumental there are no cymbal crashes, only that little swoosh. Still, the vocals don't overpower that particular moment, everything is clear... So.... I'm not convinced. Did you first hear the noise in the instrumental itself? Because I listened to every E to C chord change in the song and heard something very different. I even tried messing with my audio settings to highlight that kind of sound (or some mumbo jumbo) and that just made the cymbals themselves even more present, but the sound still absent.
I think I hear what you're talking about in EotD, it sort of sounds like a very quiet pad underneath everything... Though it's a tad too subtle.
Yep, I knew about that in NWTB, though I have no friggin' clue what it is. I've always dismissed it as nonsense, hehehe. Evidence that Ev is not very good at utilizing these tools, to be honest... Or the mixmaster made an error. It doesn't sound well placed or make sense.
I definitely heard that when I was listening to SYW when I made my last post, but to me it follows the guitar so closely that it sort of sounded like residual clicking coming from the guitar itself... But it sort of has it's own rhythm. The guitar just goes bum-bum-bum-bum-bum-bum-bum-bum, while this goes bu-du-bum-bu-du-bum-bu-du-bum... Again, irritatingly quiet. Ev has always had effects/beats like this in their music... Yet for this album they decided to talk a lot about it while making it almost too quiet to even notice. The second clip kind of all blurs together, but I think I hear what you're talking about.

I've made all those clips.
No, I heard that sound when I was listening to ET, then I instrumentalized it to hear it better.
The SYW two things, I'm pretty sure the one is the same sound/synth used in Whisper but in the correct key for SYW and probably a bit different. The same sound/synth is also used in Disappear but it is a lot faster to match the tempo of the song. The second bit is definitely electronic because its a sound used in one of the Nancy Drew games I've recently played, to created this electric charge kind of sound.
What program do you use? I usually use GoldWave and SOMETIMES Audacity.
