Welcome your pictures do not seem to be working? Try attaching them again or maybe just pasting the link?

It's a really good bootleg. Some of the tall tale signs of a bootleg are there and some of the signs of an authentic copy are not there. Sorry. I also have a bootleg version that I thought for the longest time was an authentic copy.

Thanks. All my other stuff from various bands is authentic. This was my only questionable item.

For anyone who's wondering if their copy of Origin is a bootleg, here's some info from someone on amazon: evenindeath, I'm assuming that your copy is probably a bootleg because yours has a different number on the inner ring 'N1222M' instead of the 'X0A21C'. I looked at my Origin copy and it seems to be a re-print by Bigwig, if that person's info is true.

That info above is outdated. We have confirmed that both the N1222M and the X0A21C versions are correct, there were 2 pressings and they both ahve 2 IFPI numbers. There is no "reprinted" version. One of the main ways to distinguish if the Origin is real or not, is making sure it has the 2 IFPI's and also the font of the code of the inner ring and also if it is mirror image (most bootlegs dont do the mirror image). There are also many other things to look for, but those are the main ones.

I didn't know if that person's info was accurate or not, even though it sounded pretty plausible. So there were only 2500 original copies actually made? If so it seems like it'd be nearly impossible getting your hands on one now, unless someone decided to sell theirs for a hefty sum. I paid $30.00 for my (bootleg) copy years ago, but tbh it was worth the money. The sound quality is great, and it *looks* like a real album too.

That information is still on EvRef? Ugh! I thought it's been deleted! Anyway, there is an Origin information thread on the Evanescence Collections sub-board with ACCURATE information from two people who worked directly on/with Origin and it's process. I'm not going to post the link here because I don't want that information to get into the wrong hands. Plus the collections board is "protected" against... outsiders... <that is supposed to be shifty eyes*

I have been trying my best to keep the Origin page there free of all the "pre-release" thing that guy was flooding here a couple of months ago. Unfortunately he has an account at EvRef and goes there to edit the page at his own will just to include his Origin without IFPI codes and legitimize it. And whenever he does that, I undo the edit. We've been having quite a struggle in the backstage of that article to keep it reliable and free of pre-release/alternative release non-sense. But anyhow, this info is not there in EvRef Origin page. Just checked.

Oh man, that guy just won't give up. I don't think his Origin will ever sell on eBay, just give it up! I can't simply let it go... He can't just edit a reference page at his own will. Think of how many people actually refer to those pages and articles for some credible info... If I gave you guys a print of all the BS he's trying to upload there or the circles he's been going around, NO ONE would believe. But if you wanna laugh a bit or perhaps give me some tips on how to be MORE DIDATIC to narrow-minded stubborn (and possibly intellectually challenged) people, just visit the page and then go to the "talk" (discussion) session. Bring on some popcorn too! Meanwhile, I can't simply give it up, otherwise he'll find means and methods to upload all his non-sense there. You know? Here, he can be warned and banned. There, he can't. So, someone has got to clean up his mess.

No I appreciate you updating the site with accurate info I just can't understand the lengths he is pulling to sell his CD. It's nuts!! Sorry if you thought I meant you, I didn't mean to

Sorry, my bad... no problems... ;-) On the one hand, I know how he feels. I myself have a couple of Ev releases (promos) which I am pretty sure are genuine but they haven't been officially legitimized by any reliable source or the label or Sony or whatever. So, for the time being, they remain "unnoficial", until I have some confirmation from someone reliable. And I know how frustrating that is. On the other hand, we can't simply force others to swallow each and every version of the Ev releases we have, as, chances are, one or two might not be official releases, right? But it is all a matter of common sense.
This guy is really driving me nuts writing messages there in the talk session questioning ALL the information we have got so far regarding Origin, doubting our sources and so on, just in order to officialize his bootleg. Anyway, I've been praying for pacience in the past 2 weeks. REALLY.
I didn't know he was trying to sell his Origin on eBay. That makes a huge lot of sense now.
