Definitely understand the fear that many And I don't. This is the first time ever Ev has wrote a music with such theme in their whole discography and people complaining why it's not a song about personal life and feelings. I mean, aren't all those 150 other songs about personal feelings enough? at least let it come out and listen to a minute of it first, before labeling it with words like generic, commercial, pepsi ad, political etc... Personally I see a good cause and good message in this and I do support it.

Absolutely. As long as it's heartfelt then it'll always have power and one thing I'm sure of is that it won't be lacking in legitimacy and authenticity because Ev have always had these qualities in spades. What I'm acknowledging is that as soon as you go down the political route, you'll undoubtedly please some and alienate others. I really don't think the band care at this point and would much rather put out exactly what they feel, which is admirable and what draws me to them personally, but I can definitely get why some people who've supported the band for so long and feel invested in their music might be worried that they'll feel alienated if the lyrical themes are very specific. In any case, we won't know until we hear it and I'm definitely curious and excited about it.

It's linked to a comic after all.

I really hope they go full political with no filters. I can't wait to see some EvFans lose their head with Evanescence taking sides and not talking about things in an ambiguous way, I can't wait for see them being umconfortable lol. It would look like another step to broken the "Evanescence Image", looks like this album it's a departure in a lot of things, going in a more mature route with no gimmicks, bye goth Amy, i'm really enjoying this raw direction they are taking.

Not sure what else they expected with an album name like The Bitter Truth. You have all the answers right in front of you. Amy has said she would rather HAVE the bitter truth than live a lie. So many people have missed the message already, and only want the band to cater to their own level of comfort. Sorry, Evanescence doesn’t exist for your personal desires. They exist on their own merit because they want to keep making music they believe in. So if that means “losing” some fans, then I don’t think Amy is gonna lose any sleep over it.

No one is demanding anything, least of all me. I said my opinion on it, like anything else. The band is going to do what they are going to do. I love the sound and I love that they brought so many lovely ladies in on it.

I haven't seen anyone demand anything or attack the band for their direction and all of the unpopular opinion replies have been presented respectfully. Some of these 'political positive' responses are starting to come off as aggressive though. Nobody deserves to feel alienated or uncomfortable. To quote a badass rockstar, "Do you really know the weight of the words you say?"

They are all grown ups and the world is living troubled days, it is only natural for them to be interested in politics and eventually want to see it reflected in their work. I have been wondering more and more over the years about their opinions on a variety of subjects, I guess this album will answer some of those questions.

I haven't heard the song in the quality I want but after hearing the whole thing it's not what I thought it would be. The lyrics might have been written to be politically charged, but I didn't interpret them that way. I've never been a fan of anthem-like songs and the chorus isn't my favorite but the rest of the song has some cool moments. I can see a lot of people liking this. It's very commercial and radio-friendly. I really just prefer the directions of WOY and TGIO.

I did not hear the song yet, but I read the lyrics and think that those afraid of feeling alienated have nothing to worry about. They could be applied to any situation where you need to raise your voice. There is a part that mentions guns that I interpret as police abuse during protests, but it could be a metaphor for any type of abuse of power.

Got selected for this Zoom thing in an hour. Just realised we get a first listen to the song too so I'll put my thoughts up afterwards. Gonna be weird seeing the band after accepting I wasn't gonna see them this year.

Use My Voice Lyrics: Credit: www.azlyrics.com/lyrics/evanescence/usemyvoice.htmlCover my ears and close my eyes Just long enough to stop the noise Go on take everything and throw it away But I will use my voice Drown every truth in an ocean of lies Label me bitch because I dare to draw my own line Burn every bridge and build a wall in my way But I will use my voice Whether you like it or not, you're gonna take what I got If we can't talk about it, we'll just keep drowning in it Give me credit or not, I give a lot, give a lot But don't you speak for me No, don't you speak for me Never mind me, I'm a waste of your time I'm never gonna fit in the box that you need and I can read between the lines, yeah Gather your friends and wave your gun in my face But I will use my voice Whether you like it or not, you're gonna take what I got If we can't talk about it, we'll just keep drowning in it Give me credit or not, I give a lot, give a lot But don't you speak for me No, don't you speak for me Whether you like it or not Whether you like it or not Whether you like it or not Whether you like it or not One day soon It's gonna fall back on you No more lies We're gonna break right through Like it or not If we can't talk about it, we'll just keep drowning in it Give me credit or not, I give a lot, give a lot But don't you speak for me No, don't you speak for me Don't you speak for me iTunes preview: music.apple.com/nz/album/use-my-voice-single/1526117992
